Any ideas?

Postby Philip » Wed Feb 04, 2015 9:51 am

The AOC is starting to plan for what must be the most important event for many years – the Centenary of the establishment in 1919 of the T.G. John and Company Ltd. (later to become the The Alvis Car and Engineering Company Ltd.) and the first Alvis production car in 1920. Celebrations will start in 2019 (the Centenary of the company), and the main “Centenary Event” will be in 2020 (the Centenary of the first car) around Coventry. A Centenary Committee has been formed to gather ideas for events and how the main Celebration “Centenary Event” will coordinate with local and international activities. We will need to start building awareness and items of interest well in advance, so if you have any suggestions, please post them here for discussion. Please join in!

UPDATE: at the AOC board meeting, it was agreed that suggestions for celebrating the Alvis centenary should follow the criteria that they should be directly relevant to Alvis and to motoring, especially relating to commemorative items and/or souvenirs. So, if you are thinking of suitable commemorative items, please think of items for the cars themselves (e.g. car badges), for the owners (e.g. garage equipment, tool kits, books etc.) or items that celebrate Alvis' motoring heritage. Likewise, suggestions for events should focus on motoring (e.g tours, exhibits at motor museums, participation in other motoring events such as Goodwood, Silverstone Classic etc.).
